Robin had come out of surgery, but she'd fallen into comatose.
She just lay
there like a limp, lifeless ragdoll as the sunlight streamed
in through the
open window in her room. Mac had fallen asleep in the
chair near her bed and
still hadn't woken up though it was mid-day.
Felicia entered holding two steaming cups of coffee. She
placed one on the
table beside Mac's chair and sat down in the other chair
with the second cup.
She breathed in the steam as she watched Robin, dead
to the world, and Mac who
was sleeping terribly lightly, looking worried even in
sleep. Felicia sighed
as she sipped her coffee.

Bobbie was going through files, making notes on charts
at the Nurses' Station
when one red rose appeared from over her shoulder and
she heard a familiar
voice: "There you are; I was looking all over for you."
She spun around, a smile playing at her lips. "Jerry!
What are you doing
here?" He held out the rose again and she took it, a
smile curving up only the
very corners of her mouth. ""Thank you. So? What are
you doing here? And don't
you dare tell me that you're rescuing me either, I do
have to work some day,
you know."
He was standing there, smile on face. "Well, I'm just
here to confirm our
dinner plans...so you don't let it slip your mind." He
smiled even more
winningly and she laughed.
"I won't forget." She promised.
"Good." He smiled. "But there is one other reason why I'm here."
"Yes? Why?" Bobbie asked curiously.
~~
Alexis picked up the ringing phone. "Hello?"
"Hi. It's me." A familiar voice came through.
"Hi, Ned." She shifted the phone, leaned back against
the couch and struggled
not to let her voice catch in her throat.
"Alexis..." He started. He paused, apprehensive. "What
are your plans for
tonight?"
She paused. "They're practically nonexistant." She admitted.
"Then, you'd be free for dinner?" He gained some confidence.
She hesitated. She really did want to see him, to be with
him, she just didn't
like all the confusion she knew it would bring, "Yes."
She paused again.
"Where? When?"
"The Gatehouse at seven thirty?" He asked.

Brenda was sitting on the couch, staring off into space
when Jax came
downstairs.
"Hi." He said; he went to get himself a glass of orange juice.
"Hi." She echoed numbly.
Jax stopped in his tracks. "How are you doing?" He queried.
~~
Jason stared in on Robin. She was still unconscious. He
sighed. He might as
well go home, he *had* to go home. Michael would be getting
worried. He walked
away, shaking his head.
He knew only two things: number one--he had no idea what
he'd do if Robin
didn't make it, and number two--whoever did this would
pay, and pay dearly.
~~
"I wanted to see how Robin was doing." Jerry told Bobbie. "Can you tell me?"
Bobbie nodded and looked down. "Not good."
"How not good?" Jerry asked.
"She made it through surgery, but she's in a coma. We
have no idea if she'll
ever wake up." Bobbie sighed. "Or if she'll even be able
to remain stable."
"How good are her chances?" Jerry wondered.
"We don't even know that." Bobbie shrugged. "At this point,
anything could
happen."
"That's too bad." Jerry sighed.
Bobbie nodded in agreement. "Yeah. It is."
"Anyway, I'll see you tonight. Right?" Jerry asked Bobbie.
"Yeah." She nodded.
"Good. When should I pick you up?"
"I get off at eight." Bobbie told him.
"I'll be here." Jerry nodded before walking off.
~~
Alexis hesitated and finally spoke: "I'll be there." She managed.
"Good." She could hear the smile in Ned's voice. "I'll look forward to it."
"I'll see you tonight, Ned." She said simply.
"Tonight it is then." He agreed. "At seven thirty?"
"Until then." She agreed.
~~
Mac awoken with a start, remembering in sleep where he was.
"Morning." Felicia said. "How are you feeling?"
"Like I slept all night in a hospital." He sighed as he
saw Robin. "No
change?"
"No change." Felicia said with a sigh. She put a hand
on his shoulder. "No
change."
He sighed and looked away. She kissed his cheek. "She
just has to be okay,
Felicia." He told her. "She just has to."
"I know." Felicia said softly. "I know."
