He was going home.
Home. That was a word he hadn't used in eight years. Eight LONG years.
He had
spent three of them in Rio, a forlorn, miserable casino owner. Then
she walked
into his life. Walked *back* into his life is more like it.
He tilted his head to look over at her, sleeping peacefully beside him,
her
small hand drapped over her large, protruding pregnant belly. Her diamond
encrusted gold wedding ring glimmered beautifully on her hand.
He smiled at her. The one true, good thing in his whole life. His everything.
He loved her more than life itself. And today he was bringing her home.

Jasper Jacks gazed nervously in the black box. He was nervous. He never
got
nervous! Never! It was so unlike him to get sweaty palms and a fast,
beating
heart like this. Then again, he'd never been in love like this. Not
since
Brenda. Brenda. He knew she'd want this. He knew she'd want him to
move on. He
had to admit part of him didn't want to, part of him wanted to love
her for
the rest of his life, and only her. But he couldn't. He was in love
with
someone else. Head over heels. She'd healed his heart, his soul, after
Brenda's death and now, he didn't want to live another day without
her.
The diamond was beautiful. A one carat square cut solitatre on a sterling
silver band, with two tiny baguettes on either side. He knew she'd
love it.
She loved him. It was the best thing about her, she loved him unconditionally,
and he needed that. She was a loyal friend, confidante and lover.
Jax looked up as the door to the penthouse opened.
"Jax?" She called, stepping into the apartment.
"Hey!" He replied softly, snapping the ring box shut and quickly sliding
in
into his pocket.
She shut the door behind her, her beautiful mouth lifting up into a
graceful
grin. "Hey." She walked over to him and linked her arms around his
neck,
giving him a deep, warm welcoming kiss. "How was your day?" She asked,
pulling
away.
Jax gazed into her giving green eyes. "Better now that you're here.
I need to.
. .talk to you about something."
She nodded. "Okay. Shoot. What's on your mind?"

Elizabeth Webber glanced nervously at the pregnancy test she held in
her
shaking hand. A tear rolled freely down her cheek, and she felt faint.
"This can't be happening to me," She whispered. "It can't."
She shut her eyes tight, then opened them as more tears fell to read
the test
once again. After checking five or six more times, she had to face
the
inevitable.
Positive.
Brenda's eyes popped open. She smiled when she realized where she was,
and
rolled her head on the head rest to look at him. He grinned.
"Hey, baby."
"Sonny. . ." She smiled at her husband. "We almost home?"
He nodded. "You bet, baby. You bet."
She gazed at him with love. "I'm kind of nervous."
"Why?"
"I'm 'dead', remember?" She whispered. "I've been dead for seven years.
I had
a life in Port Charles when I died. My mother and I-" She glanced at
her
sleeping mother sitting across from them. "-and Jax had so many plans."
Brenda
sighed. "Then I 'died.'"
"You didn't die," Sonny whispered, brushing hair back from her face.
"You were
reborn. You're very much alive, so is Veronica, and I'm guarrunting
that you
stay that way." He took her hands in his and kissed them.
Brenda smiled tenderly. "I love you so much," she sighed. "I can't
*believe*
that I'm sitting here with you. You know that I was ready to move on,
from
you, from us, before all of this happened."
"And you know what changed to make you realize you couldn't."
"Yeah," Brenda laughed. "It took my crashing over a cliff to wake me
up!" Her
smile faded. "You know that a lot of people are going to be angry at
me, don't
you?"
He nodded.
"And you know that-" She sighed. "Baby, you *know* that I have to see
Jax,
don't you?"
He nodded. "But I know that you're coming home to me."
She smiled and tucked her head into his neck. "I'm so happy." He wrapped
his
arm around her body and rested his hand over hers, on her stomach.
"And it's only going to get better. I promise."
-----------
Elizabeth lost her breath, dropping the test on the floor. She stepped
away
from it, turning around and rushing out of the bathroom.
"It was only one night!" She whispered to herself. One night she'd
like to
forget. How could she have done that?! With her best friend!
Sitting down on her bed, Elizabeth knew that that wasn't true. She and
Lucky
had been more than best friends since they were 15 years old, but they
had
never "gone out". . . or said those three words that change a persons
life
forever. They'd been friends. Best friends. He had Emily, she had Nikolas,
that was the way it was! Until that night three weeks ago. . . It had
all
started out as one simple kiss. A simple kiss. Then it deepened, then
there
was touching and caressing and groping. . .and removal of the clothing,
and
before Elizabeth knew it, she had lost her virginity toher very best
friend in
the entire world. Now. . .she was pregnant with his child.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. "Elizabeth?"
Oh no. Oh shit. Her eyes rushed up to look at the door as Lucky poked
his head
through it. "Lizzie? What's wrong?"
He practically flew over to her, and sat on the bed beside her shaking,
sobbing body, wrapping her into his arms. He acted as if nothing had
happened!
But she let herself be held. She loved him, she knew it. He felt so
wonderful
that night, and he felt so wonderful now. She pulled her head from
his
shoulder to look into his face.
"Calm down, Lizzie, please tell me what's wrong." He brushed her hair
from her
face and smiled at her tenderly. She was so incredibly beautiful.
"Lucky. . ." She cleared her throat and then forced out of her throat,
"I'm
pre-pre-pregnant."
His heart stopped. He gazed at her. "Pregnant?"
"It's your baby," She whispered. "It's your baby. . ." She started
to cry
again.
"That night?" He asked her in disbelief. "That insane night. . .?"
She nodded her head quickly, as the tears fell faster and faster. "You're
the
only man I've ever had, besides-" She stopped.
"You're my first too, you know that right?" He looked at her frantically.
Elizabeth nodded. "I-I thought about getting rid of it-"
"No!"
"I can't!" Elizabeth rushed on. "I'm not Catholic, I'm not even that
religious, but the thought of getting rid of a baby that came from
something
so good. . ."
Lucky's blue eyes turned blank. He gazed into nothingness. "This is
unbelievable."
"I want this baby." Elizabeth stated, not really to him, but not really
to
anyone else either. "The thought of your baby growing inside of me.
. ." She
looked at his profile. "Maybe this sounds crazy, but I can't imagine
having
anyone elses child. Maybe that's because you're so precious to me,
Lucky."
He looked at her. "I can't blelieve this is happening. . ."
"You didn't use a condom, I'm not on the pill and it's not like you,
uh, you.
. ." Her throat tightened as she whispered feebly, "pulled out."
"I couldn't," He said hoarsely.
"You couldn't?" She looked imploringly at him, waiting for him to expand.
"You were incredible, Elizabeth. Everything about you. . ." He looked
at her
as if he was staring through her, right to her soul. "Your hair, your
mouth,
your body. . ." His voice squeaked slightly. "You were like an angel.
I want
you to know that I-I didn't come here that night, looking for sex.
But it
happened and I don't regret it. But I don't know how I'm supposed to
feel
about this either. I mean, I'm 22 years old, I'm not supposed to be
a father
yet."
"And I'm not supposed to be a mother!" She looked at him harder. "But
I'm
going to be, and I have to be responsible about it too."
"Elizabeth?" Lucky whispered.
"Yes?"
"I'm scared."
"I am too."
"But I really, really loved making love to you," He whispered, brushing
hair
from her face. "Nothing in my entire life felt as good, or as perfectly,
insanely right as making love to you that night, kissing you, holding
you. . .
What's happening between us?"
She shrugged, as his lips drew deathly closer to hers. "I don't know,
Lucky, I
don't know."
"Can I kiss you?" He drawled, whisking his thumb across her lips.
She nodded, sucking in a deep, wet breath as a tear fell to the crack
of her
mouth. He lowered his head and licked it away. "Kiss me, Lucky," she
whispered. "Please."
He didn't hesitate as he pressed his lips to hers. She whimpered, taking
his
face in her hands to deepen the kiss. When he pulled back for her,
she panted,
"Make love to me."
"What?"
"All night long," She pleaded tearfully. "I want you to show me again,
Lucky.
Show me how beautiful it can be. I know now how beautiful it can be,
I want to
feel it again."
"This is going to get bad," He whispered even as he started to unbutton
her
shirt.
"I don't care, it feels right," She whimpered against his lips.
"That's what's bad about it."
----------------------------------
Jax looked at her. He just kept on looking into her giving green eyes,
eyes
that he could get lost in. Finally, he whispered, "I need to ask you
a
question."
V nodded, looking at him seriously. "Okay. Honey, what's wrong?"
"Sit down? Please?"
She nodded, and followed him to the couch. They sat down, and Jax cleared
his
throat, and began his speech.
"I love you, V," Jax started, so nervous he could barely breathe.
"I love you too-"
"Please don't interrupt, I really need to say this."
She nodded, her eyes wide with fear. What was he going to say? Was
he going to
break up with her? She didn't know if she could handle that.
"I love you. It took me a long time to realize it, after Brenda died.
. ." His
voice trailed off and she saw the little glimmer of pain in his eyes
that he
got whenever he talked about her. "And even longer to say it.
But I promise
you, V, with my entire heart and soul, if you give me the chance, I'll
say it
as often as you want, every single second of every single hour of every
single
day of the rest of our lives." He had tears glistening in her eyes,
and
stopped to give her a chance to respond.
V felt tears building in her own eyes. "Jax. . ." She had to clear
her throat
and try again. "Are you saying. . . Are you asking me to *marry* you?"
He nodded. "Will you be my wife, V?"
She gasped, her eyes and heart filling with joy. She didn't even hesitate
as
she gasped out. "Yes!" Clearing her throat from the unprecedented emotion,
she
said once again. "YES!"
Jax smiled with relief and threw his arms around her, giving her a
honest,
deep kiss. "You won't regret it, I promise."
"Never," V whispered.
