All Stefan could see as he approached
the scene in front of him was red.
His nephew lay on the ground next
to Luke Spencer. Both were covered in
black soot, most of it concentrating
around their nose and mouth, where
they undoubtedly inhaled much of
the dangerous smoke. The flames of the
fire were nothing compared to the
rage burning inside him. Before he
could evaluate his course of action
Stefan found himself physically
dragging Luke away from Nikolas
who seemed to be wearing an expression
of deep concern. Seeing the disturbance,
the police immediately ran over
and broke the two up before a fight
indubitably ensued.
"I want you to arrest that man right this minute!"
Luke shook the dazed look off his
face and wiped at the tear trails on
his cheeks. His eyes narrowed in
antipathy, and then rolled back when he
noticed the two figures approaching
them. Stefan turned around,
following Luke's line of vision.
"Good you're here! Now you can arrest this man!"
Garcia and Taggart exchanged looks,
each equally unimpressed by
Stefan's accusatory finger-pointing.
"Mr. Cassadine, I'm detective Garcia,
this is detective
Taggart........ the fire department
is working on your home right
now...... I was hoping you could
answer........."
"I don't need to answer anything!
You need to arrest this man right
this instant......... you have
an obligatory duty to arrest him."
"On what grounds?"
"He was trespassing, he undoubtedly
set my home on fire, and he tried to
kill my nephew!"
Taggart turned to Luke, a cocky smile pasted on his face.
"Busy night Spencer.........."
Luke's impervious manner quickly
changed, and he found himself face to
face with Stefan Cassadine, enraged.
"IF IT WEREN'T FOR ME, YOUR PRECIOUS
NIKKY WOULD BE CRUNCHIER THAN A
CROUTON BY NOW!!!!"
Taggart's eyebrows peaked. Finally, a chance to nail Spencer.
"Do you have any evidence to implicate him?"
Stefan broke his icy glare with
Luke and stepped aside to address
Taggart.
"Yes, Wyndemere is extensively surveillanced...........
we have security
footage showing Spencer performing
illicit activities........... Lurking
in the bushes on the private grounds,
breaking into Wyndemere, not to
mention the blatant destruction
he left inside......... that is before
he set fire to it."
"I DID NOT SET FIRE TO WYNDEMERE!!!!"
Taggart smiled and cocked his head to the side.
"Ah, but you did do all those other things didn't you Spencer?"
Luke turned his head in disgust. Taggart shrugged his shoulders.
"Good enough for me!"
He approached Luke with handcuffs while Garcia spoke.
"Mr. Spencer you are under arrest
for trespassing, breaking and
entering, vandalism, attempted
murder, and suspicion of arson....... You
have the right to remain silent,
anything you........."
Luke struggled hopelessly as Taggart
locked the handcuffs around his
wrist and pulled his arms behind
his back.
"Oh this is ASININE! This just proves
how completely incompetent the
police department is! You're arresting
me on Cassadine's word?! HA!"
Taggart slithered up next to his ear.
"Well, Mr. Spencer if you'd like,
I'm sure we could go down to the
police station, pop us some popcorn,
and sit down and watch us some
videos."
Luke looked around noticing Stefan
was gone. He did a double-take when
he saw him helping Nikolas into
the ambulance.
"WAIT! No wait........."
He stared at Garcia who was finishing reading him his rights.
"I need to go to the hospital........
you have to take me to the
hospital..........."
Taggart moved around Luke giving him an annoyed look up and down.
"You look fine to me....."
"Look, I ran into that fire to save
that boy, I breathed in the smoke
too....... I deserve to be checked
out also........ If I recall, you
legally HAVE to have me checked
out!"
Garcia sighed.
"Yeah, he's right......... look's
like he's got a few burns, maybe
some smoke inhalation. We'll take
him to GH."
Luke nodded. Good. He might be able
to run into Sonny there and get
help....... or maybe Bobbie.........
And he'd find out about
Lucky......... a thought that utterly
terrified him. At least right now
he could hold out hope...........
If he went and found out the
truth........ that his son was
dead, he didn't know how he could go
on........
Luke shook the thought out of his
head. He'd deal with it when he
found out.
"Alright Spencer........ let's go."

Sonny watched sheepishly through
the large observation window as Emily
clung tightly to Lucky's hand.
He felt guilty watching what was
obviously an intimate moment, yet
he couldn't bring himself to let
Lucky out of his sight. Seeing
him like this had made Sonny realize that
he regarded Lucky as truly one
of his best friends......... god knows he
didn't have many of them. He had
gone from being "the son of Luke
Spencer" to his own man, and someone
Sonny had grown to really respect.
He had always admired the kids
guts...... Lucky could look into the face
of danger and regard it with the
cool that could only be labeled
"Spencer attitude"........ and
when charm didn't work he could throw a
mean right-hook........... Yeah,
Sonny loved this kid.
"Sonny!"
He turned expectantly.
"Hey Jase....... did you find him?"
"Not exactly......... Spoon Island
is covered with cops....... if he's
there I'm guessing we're not going
to find him until he gets to the
police station............."
"Damn!....... know why the cops were there?"
Jason sighed frustrated.
"No........ they were everywhere.........
none of the men could get
could get close enough to find
out what was going on."
Sonny sighed and took a final glance
through the window before walking
across the hall. He stood contemplating
the wall for a moment.
"He said he wasn't going to kill
him......... the last thing he needs
right now is to be arrested."
Sonny turned back to Jason snapping into professional mode.
"Alright..... we need to send Justice
and a couple of men down to the
station to be ready when they bring
Luke in, and lets put some men out
on the streets in case he managed
to elude the blues....... you know,
put some guys on the places he
might show up..... the club, his house,
Kelly's......... any where else
you can think of....... oh, and I want
some men watching Bobbie Spencer's.........
I don't like dealing
with the Cassadines..... they're
quick to retaliate."
Jason nodded in understanding.
"Done."
"I'm gonna hang around here for a while."
Jason turned back to the window.
"Emily's with him.........."
"Yeah, they were good friends once.........
she was upset...... she's
been in with him for quite a while......"
"He gonna be okay?"
"Yeah, they think so....... he's one Lucky kid."
"So Luke really is his father?"
"Yep........... which leads me to
the second part of our
assignment........
His voice grew stronger and determined,
as he pointed his finger
emphasizing his words.
"I want to find out who, how, and
why those medical records were
changed. There's something going
on behind this, and I want to know
what it is."

"Pardon me.........."
The disheveled nurse peered wearily
up from behind her stacks of charts
and forms. Momentarily taken back
be the immaculate appearance to the
woman before her, she sighed, grateful
for the distraction from her
work.
"What can I do for you?"
The nurse felt a twinge of dread
in the pit of her stomach at the way
the corners of the woman's mouth
turned up into what some may have
considered a sadistic smile. This
lady was giving her bad vibes........
she shook it off. Last time she
trusted her judge of character she ended
up on the date from hell. She was
shaken from the bad memory by the
refined woman's response.
"Could you direct me to Lucky *Spencer's* room?"
She spit the word out as if having
the name on her tongue left an acrid
taste in her mouth. The nurse slid
her chair over to the computer and
pressed a few keys before answering.
"He's in room 317.......... critical."
She looked up sympathetically.
"Are you family?"
The woman's devilish grin widened.
"Yes actually.......... I'm his
grandmother."
