When Everything Changes 10

Chapter 10:

He smiled. "But? But I wonder what it is that makes people, like my brother
for instance stop wandering, stop searching. What am I trying to find?" He
shrugged. "Jax is so content. He has a home, a fiancee... stability. And he
seems happy."

"It's nice to have something to depend on." Bobbie commented. "It's nice to
have fall backs."

Jerry nodded. "Yeah. I suppose it is." He paused. "Jax has always been my
fall-back. He bails me out when I'm in trouble; and I have tendencies to get
in over my head."

Bobbie smiled. "Don't we all?"

~~

"No," AJ answered Carly. "But I'm here. The two months are just about over;
they made an allowance."

"Shh..." She said, still playing her game. "He's sleeping." She whispered.

AJ looked at her with narrowed eyes. He'd heard that she'd lost it, but... He
sighed and sat down beside her. "How are you doing?" He said softly, so he
wouldn't upset her by 'waking the baby.'

"We're doing great, aren't we Michael." She smiled as she cooed at the pillow.
"Though, we'd both rather be at home. Michael misses his daddy, don't you
Michael?"

AJ, still baffled, just stared at her for a moment. Then, "Um...yeah." He
paused. Now, he really felt sorry for Carly. And he knew that he had helped
her downfall, telling her that Jason wasn't coming for her. "Any way I can
help?" He asked.

"It's nice to help people." She said serenely with a smile, playing it really
crazy.

"Yes, it is." AJ managed. There was no way she was coherant enough to
understand what he was going to tell her. He looked around, wondering how
being locked up in this room was supposed to help Carly. He couldn't tell her
that Jason's world, therefore her world, was falling apart, right now. It was
plain and simple: he had to get her out. Her didn't know why he had this
sudden urge to help Carly, but he did. Now, how was the only question.

Ned gently rubbed Alexis' shoulders. "You know what?" He commented. "You think
too much."

She half-smiled. "Oh, is that my problem."

"Mmm Hmm." He said softly. "There's nothing you can do right now."

"Nope." She agreed. She turned around, to face him. "So, why don't you stop me
from doing this innescessant thinking before I move onto something truly
disturbing... like *worrying*." She teased, pulling him close.

"And how do you suggest I do that?" He teased her right back, his breath warm
on her face.

"Well, if you don't know..." She pulled away, her voice dissapointed.

He pulled her right back. "Oh, I think I can give it a guess or two." He said
in a raspy voice, pulling her even closer, and pressing his lips to hers in a
passionate kiss.

~~

"So?" Chris asked Courtney as the waiter in the coffee house brought them
drinks. "How'd you come to be in Port Charles?"

"My son." She sipped her coffee. "He's a cancer patient at GH."

"That's too bad." Chris commented. "How's he doing."

She smiled. "Oh, much better now. He's... a fighter."

Chris nodded. "Good."

"So, tell me about you? I know you're a doctor, but... that's all I know."

~~

Jagger watched as Eve laughed again. Her whole face lit up when she smiled,
but when she laughed... whoa; it could blow any guy away. He hated to go, but
had to nonetheless. "I have to go." He sighed. "I hope to run into you again,
though." He commented.

"That'd be great..." She trailed off, realizing she didn't know his name. She
started to ask him, but he'd already paid, waved goodbye and left. She sighed
and watched him go. That was one guy she wouldn't mind running into again, she
thought with a smile...even if she was in love with Scott.

~~

"I have to go." Bobbie pulled away. "It's late."

"Stay." Jerry countered.

"I can't. I have a son at home with an underpaid, overworked babysitter. And I
have an early shift tomorrow." She pulled away. "I just... can't."

~~

Jason sighed and dialed a number. "You have anything? Moreno?" He paused. "Had
talks with a few of my men, trying to turn them against me? And?" Pause. "Now
that's interesting..." Jason said.

"If he did this, he's going to die. And I'm going to watch him." Jason said
coldly. "He went to far this time."
