Cordilia stood outside the hospital rooms door. Over and
Over she
heard Xanders words to his best friend echoing in her head. She
kept trying to tell herself it
was a friendship love but something in his voice mad her realize it
was more...much more
then she could ever compete with. Quietly she turned away wiping
tears and swallowing
back sobs she thought to herself "this is me Cordilia Chase, may queen
and head
cheerleader..I can date whoever I want so why am I wasting my heart
on..on..some
dork"
"Because" she answered the voice "he is more then just another dork
he
is I mean was my dork and..I...I love him" Heads in the waiting room
turned to stare at
her and she realized she had spoken that last part out loud. "Great
now I'm not
only heartbroken but I amcrazy too.." she thought to herself miserably
but it was the truth she
did love him and he..heloved everyone else..
As her pace quikened her heels clicked loudly, she pushed passed
gurneys and carts filled with dinnerdinner trays in her mad efforts
to get out of the place where her pain
had begun. In her frantic departure she nearly ran over the redhaired
guitarist who was approaching from the
other direction. "Woah..Cordy I have never seen you move that
fast, not even in the mall"
he smirked up at themuch taller girl who was wiping mascara smudges
from her eyes. Oz's smirk
softened "Whats the matter..it's..it's not Willow is it?" Seeing
his eyes filled with such love and
concern for his girlfriendCordilia decided he should know the truth.
"No no change yet she is still unconcious" Cordy replied sniffling a
bit.
"Huh..well then what isit?" he asked with a look of utter puzzlement
on his face.
"Oh Oz I was standing by her room and Xander confessed to Willow that
he loves her and I don't know
what I am going to do!" The words tumbled out of her so quickly she
barely had a chance to
breathe.
"Hmm..I see well I mean of course he loves her Cordy..I mean
they are best friends and.."
"No" Cordilia interupted him "this was more then friendship he was
talking about" . She could not make out, quite how Oz was taking
this news but she did know
one thing, just because Xander had ruined her life it did not give
him the right to destroy a
perfectly happy couple.
She saw the way they looked at each they belonged together and that's
when she decided to speakand break the silence. "Oz?" "huh..wha..oh
sorry Cordy its just I mean
thats a lot to absorb"Cordy felt a pang of envy at the obvious feelings
Oz had for the
redheaded hacker and wondered if she would ever have that.."one day
maybe but for now I have to stop
thinking about myself and help someone else for a change" "Come on..like
I said Willow is
still out cold and if you can get there before.."
"Say no more," Oz cut Cordy off impatiently " just lead the way"
Cordilia smiled at her anxious friend..her frozen heart melting as she
realized for once she was doing the right thing and she quickly lead
him back the way she had
come. They reached the nurses staion in record time and Oz quickly
signed in
an grabbed a guest pass barely hearing her directions as he sprinted
to be at the side of the
only girl he could ever love.
She watched as he retreated further and further down the hall an then
stopped to look over his shoulder and gave her a grateful smile before
he entered the room.
She smiled and made a thumbs up gesture at him then turned away thinking
to herself, "Damn..Some girls get all the luck".
