"Straightfoward and simple."
"There's nothing simple about this
Sonny. Nothing at all." Brenda
sighed. "I can't very well
tell him the truth."
"Why not?"
"John and Miranda don't want anyone
to know they're alive. You heard
them."
"I know. You think they're in love or something?"
"Now that'd be funny." She said smiling ironically.
"Mommy?" Alexandra said as she ran
into the room and hopped on Brenda's
lap.
"Oomph! What has you so excited Alex?"
"Cause I was thinking and I know
what you should name the baby if it's a
brother."
"Oh you do, do you?"
"What should we name the baby Alex?"
Alex looked at her step-father and
proudly said,
"Noah."
"Noah? Why?"
"Cause it's strong."
"She's right you know it is." Brenda
said looking at Sonny. "Noah.
Noah Corinthos." Brenda said trying
it out. "I like that. Well Miss
Alex, any ideas on his middle name?"
Alex looked perplexed for a minute,
well as perplexed as a three year
old can look, and then said, "Brady."
"Brady, huh? Why Brady?"
"Cause I like it."
"Well then that's reason enough." Sonny teased.
"Uh-huh." Alex nodded her head importantly.
"Well then Noah Brady Corinthos
it is. So Alex any ideas on what to
name it if it's a sister?"
"Nope. But I'll think of something."
Alex grinned impishly as Sonny and
Brenda laughed at the little girl's
antics.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay here goes nothing." Brenda
muttered as she picked up the phone and
dialed the Port Charles Hotel Penthouse
Suite. She felt Sonny's hands
on her shoulders and reached up
to hold one of them. He bent down and
kissed the top of her head, whispered
"I love you." in her ear, and then
went into the other room to keep
Alex entertained. She watched him go
and then drummed her fingers on
the table waiting for someone to pick
up.
"Jax here."
"Hi Jax, it's Brenda." she said shakily.
"Brenda?" Jax sounded shocked. "What do you want?"
"To tell you something. Something important."
"Are you all right?"
"I'm better than I have been in a long time. Jax she's not dead."
"Who's not dead?"
"Alex. Alex is alive and well
and in the next room. She's also very
anxious to meet her father."
There was silence on the other end.
Brenda drummed her fingers along the
nightstand's glass top for a few
seconds, before she whispered, "Jax?"
He replied meekly, "Alex is alive?"
Brenda nodded. "Yes."
"How-how do you know? How did you find her?"
Brenda bit her lip. "It's a long
story. Listen, Jax, Sonny and I are on
vacation, we weren't coming back
for a few more weeks. . . Would you
mind it terribly if we kept Alex
here for those few weeks, and then she
can meet you when we get back to
PC?"
"Brenda-"
"Please, Jax?"
"Alright. Fine. Fine. Listen, I
have to go. Can I have your room number
so I could call later and possibly
talk to her? Are you-are you sure
that she's alive?"
"Yes!" Brenda exclaimed happily.
"And she's beautiful. She, uh, she has
your eyes." Jax grinned and Brenda
gave him the number. "Alright. Um,
I'm gonna go now. Bye, bye, Jax."
"Bye, Brenda. And thank you."
Brenda hung up the phone and then
stood on her feet. She adjusted her
engagement ring for a moment, gazing
out the window, wondering if she
had made the right decision. Finally,
she gathered up the courage to
walk out into the living room of
the suite. Sonny and Alex were coloring
in the brand new coloring books
that she had bought for her yesterday.
Brenda smiled warmly, her heart
swelling with love as she saw her
husband graciously accepting Alex
into his heart. She cleared her throat
and her husband and daughter looked
up. Sonny frowned in concern.
"How'd it go?"
"Can I talk to you a moment?" Brenda
whispered, motioning for Sonny to
come into the bedroom with her.
Sonny nodded and stood up, handing Alex
his crayon.
"Here, Alex, would you hold these for me? I'll be right back."
Alex nodded. "Okay, Sonny."
Sonny followed Brenda into their
bedroom and she slowly closed the glass
french doors. "Baby, you're scaring
me." Sonny whispered. Brenda looked
into his face before leaning up
and wrapping her arms around his neck.
He sighed and slid his arms around
her waist. Brenda smiled against his
shoulder and then pulled back.
Sonny brushed a lock of her hair from her
face. "Was Jax upset?"
Brenda shook her head. "No. Oh!
No! No! I just wanted to hold you in my
arms for a moment and. . .relish
in the fact that I am truly the
luckiest woman I alive. I love
you."
"And I love you, sweetheart," Sonny kissed her forhead.
"I want you to make love to me,"
Brenda whispered as Sonny drew his lips
away.
"But Alex is in the next room!"
Sonny protested. "We do it too much
anyways."
Brenda laughed and swatted him playfully.
"There's nothing wrong with
having sex with me, is there, Sonny?"
"I haven't been caught with another
woman yet, now have I?" Sonny asked
her.
Brenda grinned. "Nope. That's because
you love me. You're miserable
without me." She linked her arms
around his neck.
Sonny nodded seriously. "It's true,
baby. Right now, I'm holding my
entire life in my arms."
Brenda winked up at him. "You could
do even more than hold me if you
want. . ." She wiggled her eyebrows
wickedly.
Sonny laughed a deep laugh and then
kissed her. Already he was
unbuttoning her shirt. "We're going
to have to do this real quick-"
Brenda kissed him. "I know, we will.
Before Alex get's suspicious. But
if I don't feel you, Sonny, right
now. . ." She whimpered his name as
his lips found her neck. "You think
the sex'll always be this great 30
years from now?"
Sonny lowered her onto the bed and
rasped, "I sure hope so. Hey, there's
always Viagra, right?"
Brenda's chest rumbled as she let
out a loud laugh. Her laugh turned to
moans. In fact, her moans sounded
so loud to her ears she didn't hear
the doors open. Neither she nor
Sonny heard the tiny feet pitter patter
across the carpetted floor until.
. .
"Eww, what are you guys dooooinnng!?!"
"Uh Alex..." Brenda quickly pushed
Sonny up, got up herself, and turned
to quickly button her shirt up.
"What are you doing in here?"
"I was looking for Sonny. We weren't done coloring."
"Of course you weren't." Brenda laughed nervously as she turned around.
"Mommy?"
"Yeah?"
"What were you and Sonny doing?"
"Something I never want to see you doing unless you're married."
"Oh. Okay. Let's go color Sonny."
"Okay Alex." Sonny said as
the little girl grabbed his hand and dragged
him into the next room.
"Are ya coming Mommy?" Alex yelled.
"Sure am angel." Brenda followed them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later as they sat down in the dining
area of the suite with Burger King,
Alex's choice, Alex asked a question.
"Mommy when do I get to meet all the people you told me about?"
"Soon. In fact day after tomorrow
you'll meet your aunt Lois and cousin
Brooke."
"Is Aunt Lois your sister?"
"No."
"Is she Daddy's sister?"
"No."
"Is she Sonny's sister?" Alex was starting to look confused.
"No. See Lois isn't a blood
relative like Aunt Julia or Grandpa John
she's a relative of the heart and
that makes her all the more special."
"Oh. I like that."
"Good because you have a lot of relatives of the heart."
"Like who?"
"Well there's your uncle Jason,
Aunt Carly, Uncle Nikolas, Uncle Ned,
Aunt Alexis, and then there's Sonny's
step-brothers, Uncle Joe and Frank
and their wives, Aunt Karen and
Lark, and a ton of cousins from all of
them. You have a Grandma
Mary too."
"I have a grandma?"
"Sure do. You have two."
"Oh you mean Lady Jane. Grandpa John says she's nuts."
"Alexandra! That's not nice."
"Well that's what he said."
"I know sweetie but sometimes grown-ups
say things in front of children
that they shouldn't and those things
shouldn't be repeated."
"Oh. Okay. Mommy?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"I love Sonny too." She grinned
shyly at her stepfather who smiled at
her fondly.
"He loves you too." he said softly.
Alex got out of her seat and
wrapped her little arms around
her stepfather's neck and hugged him
fiercely. Brenda got a little
teary eyed and smiled at the sight,
praying silently that Jax wouldn't
ruin this for them when they got home
to PC.
It was much later in the evening,
and Sonny lay in bed, watching "The
Tonight Show With Jay Leno" while
Brenda stood in the bathroom, brushing
her thick brown hair. Se was wearing
a similar nightgown to the one she
had worn the night before, except
this one had a lace square
neckline-top, tucked tight underneath
the breasts and then flowed
gracefully to her feet. It was
a nice ivory-white color, and the diamond
pendant Sonny gave her years and
years ago rested nicely at her throat.
She set her hairbrush down on the
vanity and grinned at her appearence.
Flicking off the light and walking
into the bedroom, Brenda froze in the
doorway to gaze lovingly at her
husband. He was laughing along with the
audience as Jay wrapped up his
monologue.
"So, who're Jay's guests tonight?"
Brenda asked, slinking down on the
bed onto her knees.
Sonny reached for her and pulled
her into his arms. She nuggled against
his chest as Sonny replied, "Matt
Damon, Minnie Driver and Al Pacino."
"Oooh!" Brenda sat up excitedly.
Matt Damon was her favorite actor,
while Pacino was Sonny's. Sonny
laughed. "And they're doing Jaywalking."
Brenda was even more interested.
Jay, in her opinion, was the King Of
Late-Night Talk. She was looking
anxiously at the television screen,
while Sonny was looking anxiously
at her.
"You look incredible, sweetheart," Sonny whispered.
Brenda turned to look at him. She
smiled. "So, you think that you'd like
to ravish me now?"
"Oh, I *know* I'd like to ravish
you." She shrieked quietly as he pulled
her to him. Brenda laughed as his
teeth playfully nipped her arm. "Hm."
Sonny buried his nose within her
skin. "You're so smooth. . .you smell
so damn good. And taste. . ." Brenda
moaned as he slid the strap of her
gown down.
*******
Later that night, around 2 or 3
in the morning, the dim light on the
nightstand was on. Brenda's naked
body was wrapped up in a white bed
sheet, and she was alseep on her
stomach, her gorgeous brown locks
flying about on the pillow. Sonny,
on the other hand, was sitting by the
window, now in a pair of navy satin
pajamas. Something was on his mind.
Brenda stirred and caused Sonny
to take notice. He smiled at her, almost
five months along with his baby
and nearly showing. She was his life.
Standing up, he slowly crossed
to the bed. He got under the covers and
slid over to Brenda's side. His
big hand gently carressed the folds and
valleys of her back. The smooth,
soft skin looked beautiful to him and
he lowered his head, kissing her
shoulder blades lovingly. Brenda
stirred and awoke. She turned on
her back and opened her eyes, seeing
Sonny's lowered head in front of
her. She smiled and whispered hoarsly,
"Hi, baby," reaching out for him.
He smiled at her and they shared a
tender kiss. Brenda pulled him
down ontop of her and looked into his
face. "I think I can feel
life inside of me," She whispered.
Sonny smiled tenderly and brushed
some hair away from her face. "I can't
wait to see what you look like
pregnant with my baby. My guess is you'll
look no more beautiful to me then
than you do to me right now." Brenda
smiled at the joy her heart felt
from him saying those words to her.
"No, I lied. You'll be even more
beautiful then."
Brenda felt tears accumulating.
"Jesus, I love you." She kissed him
slowly. Rolling over so that she
was on top of him, Brenda v e r y s l
o w l y removed the bedsheet from
her body. She lowered her lips to his
and whispered, "Make love to me
again."
"Oh, baby, yes," Sonny whispered,
and then pinned her beneath him once
again.
****************************
"Brenda! Alex!!"
They were sitting on the couch in
the living room of their suite, Brenda
braiding Alex's hair. Sonny had
gone out for a little while, to do some
shopping. The door to the suite
open and Sonny popped his head in. He
grinned when he saw his beautiful
wife sitting on the couch, lounging
around in a button down work-shirt
and long skirt. Her own hair had been
done up in pigtails.
"Hey, baby!" Brenda gushed, reaching
out for his hand. He crossed the
room, but one of his arms was behind
his back. Brenda eyed him
suspiciously. "What are you doing?
What is it that you have back there?"
Alex saw Sonny and grinned. "Hey, Sonny!"
"Hey!" He pulled his arm from behind
his back. Brenda gasped. He held
two single red roses in his hands.
Alex shrieked.
"Sonny!"
"One for my beautiful wife. . ."
He handed it to her and Brenda gazed at
him with love. Sonny turned to
Bria. "And one for my beautiful little
girl. . ."
Alex giggled excitedly and happily
excepted her rose. "Thank you,
Sonny!"
"Alex, honey, why don't you go put
it in water? In the bathroom? Here,
take mine too."
"Okay, Mommy."
Brenda watched her daughter rush
away, before turning her eyes to
Sonny's. "Just when I thought I
couldn't love you any more, you prove to
me that I can."
"I just wanted to do something good
for you." He bent over the back of
the couch to kiss her. Brenda pulled
Sonny around the side of the couch
and ontop of her. She smiled up
at him as they got comfortable, laying
lengthwise. She played with a strand
of his hair, which was growing
rapidly into his face.
"You're all mine," She whispered.
"No other woman on this Earth can have
you, because you belong to me."
"You belong to me," Sonny corrected.
Brenda grinned. "I missed you while you were gone. Where did you go?"
"I went to get you something. Not
the rose, although I saw those on my
way back."
"What?" Brenda asked excitedly.
"This," Sonny whispered softly,
pulling something out of his pocket. "I
didn't feel like the ring was enough,
and I wanted to get you this so
you'd know that I love you."
"I do know." Brenda grinned. "You
know what? If you're getting me all of
these things, I guess it's about
time to give you your gift. But first-"
She reached out for the object
in his hand. When she pulled it out to
examine it, a short gasp escaped
her throat. "Sonny!"
"Do you like it?"
"How did you know?"
"I saw a picture of your grandmother
and Julia told me that the locket
had been lost for years."
"I always loved it and when she
died I asked about it but Aunt Terry
said it'd been sold after Grandfather
died. This could almost be it.
Where did you find it?"
"An antique store a few blocks from here. Turn it over."
Brenda did so. "Love always, Sonny."
"I got it engraved right after I bought it."
"I love this. I love you. Thank you so much." She kissed him gently.
"I'm not done. Open it up."
"Okay." Very carefully Brenda
opened the locket up. It was a four
picture locket. There was
one picture of Sonny and Brenda at a long ago
Nurses Ball, one of Morgan and
Scorpio at their first Christmas, and one
of Alex on the front steps of Julia's
place in London. The last space
was left blank. "How did you.....?"
she asked faintly.
"I have my ways."
"I love your ways." She grinned as she shut the locket.
"Here turn around and I'll put it
on you." Brenda nodded and turned
around, gathering her hair in her
hand as Sonny clasped the necklace
around her neck and then kissed
the back of her head as he crossed his
arms around the front of her.
They stayed like that for a few minutes
before Alex came back in and hopped
up the bed and settled in her
mother's lap.
"Mommy?"
"Hmm?"
"How come you look so happy?"
"Because I am."
"Oh. Good." she smiled as
she leaned back against the curve of Brenda's
stomach and in turn Brenda leaned
back against Sonny's chest as he
leaned against the headboard.
Brenda shifted her head so that she was
looking at him and mouthed "I love
you."
"Love you." He whispered.
He watched her smile and then close her eyes
as she fell asleep. Alex
was likewise in her lap. He kissed her
forehead and ruffled Alex's hair
as he joined them in a nap.
