Sonny had gotten Brenda upstairs
and in her room. He had just set her
down and was about to remove her
dress when she put a hand on his chest,
stopping him in his actions.
"Wait."
"What's the matter baby? Are we going to fast?"
"No not really. It's not like
we've never done this before but before
we do I wanna tell you something."
"Okay. Go ahead."
Brenda took a deep breath and then
she let it. She raised a hand and
gently touched his face, then smiled
at him shyly. "I love you." She
said in a soft voice. So
soft Sonny thought it was a dream.
"What?"
"I love you." She said with more sound in her voice.
"Really?"
"Really. So very much."
"I love you too."
"I know. I'm just sorry it
took me so long to tell you that I felt the
same way. Actually now that I think
about it if you hadn't hung up on me
in such a hurry this afternoon
you would already know that I love you."
"Well I'm glad I did."
"Why?"
"Because I wanted to be able to
see your face when you first told me you
loved me again."
"Well then I'm glad too. Now I believe you were about to ravish me."
"Yes I was. Are you sure you're okay with that?"
"Positive." Brenda drew him
close as she laid back. They removed each
other's clothes and filled each
other up as they fell off the ends of
the earth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brenda woke a few hours later to
the feel of Sonny's arms around her and
his breath on her neck. "You
awake baby?"
"Yeah."
"Waiting long?"
"Never that long of a wait when I get to watch you sleep."
"Aww honey." Brenda turned
over to face him. "You like watching me
sleep?"
"No I just like listening to you snore."
Brenda mocked looking offended and
punched him playfully. "I do NOT
snore."
Sonny laughed and rolled onto his
back and Brenda laid her head on his
chest. "Bren?"
"Hmmm?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure. What is it?"
"How'd the kids get their names?"
"Well Jason delivered them and Robin
coached me. I thought it was
right. Actually I wanted
to name Scorpio, Robert but Robin wouldn't let
me. I think she wanted to
save it for when she had a child."
"Jason delivered them?"
"Yeah."
"How'd that happen?"
"Well we were on our way home from
Ned and Alexis's wedding and it was
storming and all of a sudden my
water broke in the middle of nowhere
because Pete got lost. We
knew there was no getting to a hospital in
nearly enough time but Pete kept
driving and I starting breathing and
screaming and finally pushing.
Robin was great. I nearly broke her
hand though because I squeezed
so hard."
"I wish I'd been there."
"You were in a way. Jason
showed me a picture of you as a focal point.
I did a lot of yelling at you if
it makes you feel any better. My
turn."
"What do you want to know?"
"Where were you for the last six
years?"
"Everywhere."
"Where is everywhere?"
"But mostly Rio. I owned a casino there for a few years."
Brenda sat up on her elbow and gazed into his face. "Really?"
"Truly." Sonny whisked a finger across her lips.
"Well, tell me more! Where else
did you go? Did you go to, like, Ireland
or someplace exotic like that,
view the country side?" She held the
sheet against her and tossed her
hair over her shoulder.
Sonny shook his head. "Nope. Let's
see, Rio. . .Spain, Tahiti, Bolivia,
Greece-"
"Oh, Greece isn't exotic!?" Brenda interjected, laughing.
Sonny shrugged. "Ah, I wasn't too impressed."
Brenda laughed and kissed his chest. "Go on."
"I also went to Italy for about
a few days, but things didn't work out.
And the last place I was at was
Grand Cayman."
Brenda's eyes lit up. "Oooh, really? I'd LOVE to go to Grand Cayman."
"You've never been there!?" Sonny asked, surprised.
"Nope. Maybe you'd...would you take me there, honey?"
"If you really want to go."
Brenda nodded. "I really do."
"Well, before we do that, whaddya
say we go downstairs and take
advantage of that hot meal I made?"
Brenda giggled, "I say..okay!"
Brenda slowly slid out of bed and
turned to look at him. "Are you going
to put some clothes on?" He asked
her quietly, as he rifled through her
dresser for his pajama bottoms.
"Sure, but not much." Brenda followed
him to the dresser and opened
another drawer. She slid on a periwinkle
blue chemise that fell to
mid-thigh and ran a brush through
her hair. Sonny wrapped his arms
around her from behind and nuzzled
her neck.
"I've missed being this close to you," he whispered.
"You won't have to miss it ever
again, sweetheart," Brenda mumbled.
"Because there is NO WAY I'm letting
you go. Not when there's so much at
stake."
"What's that?"
Brenda turned and placed his arms
around her. "Our children, and our
baby on the way and...our happiness.
Why should I make myself, and my
children unhappy, by keeping their
father from them? Why should I turn
the only man I've ever TRULY loved
away when being with him feels so
perfect?"
"I dunno, you tell me why?" Sonny tilted his head to look at her.
"Well, I don't know either." She
went up on tiptoe and kissed him
soundly on the lips. "But I can
tell you this much, baby, I'm not about
to find out."
********************
Brenda giggled as Sonny fed her
another forkful of his linguini from the
bed.
"Oh, baby, you're right. It's delicious."
"You're delicious," Sonny told her
passionately, and lowered his head to
kiss the skin beneath her collarbone.
"Wonderful."
Brenda moaned and wrapped both arms
around Sonny's neck, still holding
the bowl of pasta in her hand.
She took some on her fork and slid it
into her mouth.
"Ummmmmm," Brenda moaned. "Delicious."
Sonny pried the bowl from her
hand and set it down on the nightstand.
"Come here, beautiful," Sonny ordered.
Brenda giggled again. "Catch me!"
She jumped off of the bed, and began
to run around the room, dodging
Sonny as fast as she could.
Finally, he caught her and pushed
her down on the bed. They just stared
at each other for a few moments,
before Brenda finally whispered, "I
love you."
"I know, baby, I know you do."
"Do you know how much?" Brenda's gaze told him.
"Yes, sweetheart, I do. I love you too."
Brenda smiled. "I want to be with
you, Sonny. I don't think I ever fully
appreciated you until this very
moment. Now, we have two beautiful
children, and a baby on the way,
and I wouldn't trade a life with you
and our children for the safest,
most secure life in the whole universe.
I want to belong to you, for the
rest of my life."
Sonny bent his head down and kissed
her. "That's good because I won't
settle for anything less than that.
You're the best thing that's ever
happened to me. I don't even
know what I did to deserve you, but I love
you anyways."
"Good." Brenda took his hands in hers. "Make love to me now."
"But you're so bossy, you know that?"
Brenda giggled and leaned her head
up to kiss him. "You know you like
it."
"I love it. I love everything about
you." Flipping her over onto her
back, he gave in to her demands.
"Hey honey? Can you zip me up?"
Brenda asked as she walked into the
bedroom.
"Sure baby." Brenda turned
around and Sonny zipped her dress up. She
was wearing a short light blue
dress that stopped about five inches
above her knee.
"Thanks." She turned around. "What do you think?"
"I think I wanna stay home."
"Sorry baby. No can do. Tonight's a big night."
"Remind me again why we're going."
"Because it's Joe and Karen's anniversary
and Ned and Alexis are finally
gonna have a baby." Brenda said
picking up her earrings and putting them
in. "Besides they're all
family. Especially Joe and Karen. They went
through hell and back to be together
and I think as kindred spirits we
should help them celebrate." She
looked at him in the mirror and saw him
smiling back at her. "What?"
"I never thought I'd see the day
when you thought of Karen Wexler as a
kindred spirit."
"Karen's great. We have a
lot in common and we never realized it
before."
"Like what?"
"We used to trade bedtime stories
about you and Jagger. We'd talk about
high school and we'd shop.
Now we talk about the kids. Scorpio and
Morgan love their Aunt Karen and
Uncle Joe and Lindsey and Scotty love
their Aunt Bren."
"Wait a minute. Bedtime stories?"
"Oh yeah. Don't worry though.
I said you were much better in bed than
Jagger was. Actually now
that I think about it Karen said the same
thing."
"Really?"
"Yeah but she said that Joe was
better than either of you which I didn't
have a response to because I've
never slept with Joe."
"I hope not."
"Please. Sleeping with Joe would be incestuous."
"Lark and Frank coming?"
"If Lark can convince Frank she's
not gonna go into labor if someone
yells boo!"
"She that close?"
"Yeah only a couple more days."
The doorbell rang. "That's either Jase
and Carly or Lulu."
"I'll go find out."
"Okay. Be down as soon as I put my shoes on."
"Okay." He kissed her cheek and went downstairs to get the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey Jase. Evening Carly. C'mon in guys."
"Thanks. Bren ready yet?"
"Just putting on her shoes."
"She's ready." Brenda said
coming down the stairs and picking up her
purse from the table. "Lulu's
not here yet?"
"Right here." Lulu Spencer
said coming through the open door. "Sorry
if I'm late."
"Not at all. Perfect timing.
Kids are upstairs doing before bedtime
things. We said goodbye to
them on our way downstairs. Numbers are in
their usual place."
"By the phone."
"Right. Doctor's, fire department,
police, Recovery Room, my cell,
Jason's cell, Sonny's cell.
You get the picture."
"Right."
"We should be home by midnight at
the latest. We'll call if it's going
to be later than that."
"Great. Have fun."
"We will. Phil's right outside if you need anything."
Jason, Carly, Brenda, and Sonny
left and got into Jason's limo and then
headed off to the Recovery Room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Joey! Happy anniversary sweetie."
Brenda said as she hugged her
brother.
"Thanks Bren."
"Happy anniversary man." Sonny said shaking his hand.
"Where's Karen?"
"Over there with Lark and Eve."
"Where's Ma?"
"Kitchen I think."
"Oh." She looked at Sonny. "Do you wanna dance?"
"Sure."
"Excuse us, will you Joe?"
"Sure."
Brenda and Sonny went out onto the
dance floor and wrapped their arms
around each other.
"Bren?"
"Hmmm?"
"Think this could be us in five years?"
"I'd like to think so."
"Really?"
"Sure. I know you haven't
asked yet and I haven't said yes but rest
assured that there is nothing in
this whole world that would make me
happier than to be your wife."
"I love you."
"I love you, too." Brenda rested
her head on his shoulder again and
closed her eyes, only to open them
again when she heard the door open.
The person standing there made
her gasp. It was Jane Jacks.
