A Love to Last a Lifetime 7

Chapter 42
**I thought we could all use a romantic break from psycho-boy. ?  Never fear though he is not going away forever!

The afternoon flew by and it seemed like Lucky didn’t have enough time to get anything done.  He told Emily to have Liz there at exactly 6:00 p.m. so that he could have her for the evening.  He knew Emily wouldn’t let him down.  Everything had fallen into place and he was just adjusting collar on his shirt when the chimes on the door sounded and Em and Liz entered.  Emily said her good byes quickly and left the two alone.

Liz took in Lucky’s appearance and felt her knees go weak.  He looked great in the black jeans and the off-white button down shirt.  “What’s the occasion?”  Lucky held his arm out for her, “your chariot awaits my lady.”  He led her out to the car he had borrowed from Jason, a 1998 BMW Z3, dark blue with chrome wheels and tan interior.  The top was down in honor of the warm evening.  Liz’s eyes widened when she saw the car “where on earth did you get this car?”  Lucky smiled devilishly, “I have my sources.”  He held the door opened for her and as she was getting in the car she noticed a small rectangular box on the seat.

Liz tentatively took the box and looked at Lucky, she could already feel her eyes tearing.  She opened the box, inside was a heart shaped locket with a rose engraved on the front with a small diamond on each of the leaves.  It was on a long delicate chain.  “Oh Lucky, it’s beautiful.”  Liz was crying in earnest now, Lucky was grinning ear to ear.  “Open it” Lucky was eagerly awaiting the look on her face when she saw the contents of the locket. She gently opened it. On one side was a small picture of the two of them together Sarah had taken before they left Gram’s, the other side was painted with white enamel and in tiny rose colored letters it said L & L 4 EVR.

Liz was overcome with emotion and when her eyes met Lucky’s they held.  “Well, do you like it?” he asked softly.  “How could I not.  This is the most precious gift that anyone has ever given me.  I will always cherish it, I love you so much for thinking of it.”  She stepped towards him and moved into his arms.  She hesitated only a second before she brought her lips up to meet his.  She put all of the emotion she was feeling into the kiss.   When she felt Lucky’s arms tighten around her waist she tilted her head and deepened the kiss.  Their tongues met and each was lost.

Lucky broke the embrace.  “Let’s save that for later.  I want to finish the rest of the evening I have planned first.”  His voice was almost back to normal by the time he finished the sentence.  He held the door open for Liz and she sat down.   When Lucky was seated in the driver’s seat Liz turned to him, “Where are we going?  What do you have planned?”  Her curiosity had definitely peaked.  “Like I said it is a surprise.  I have everything worked out.”  Lucky started the engine and they drove towards the docks.

They pulled up in front of the Port Charles Hotel and Lucky stopped the car for the valet.  “We have been expecting you Mr. Spencer,” he said as he held the door open for Liz.  Liz shot Lucky a curious glance.  Lucky only winked at her almost making her laugh out loud.

Once they were out of the car the valet signaled the attendant and got behind the wheel.  The bellhop approached them, “Ah, Mr. Spencer, your accommodations await.”  He motioned for the couple to follow him.  He led them to a private suite on the tenth floor with a balcony over looking the city.  He opened the door and ushered them in.  “Your dinner will be served shortly.”  He turned and left the room after Lucky tipped him.

“How did you do all this?”  Liz was amazed at the suite.  “It pays when your best friend is the favorite cousin of the owner.”  Lucky grinned slyly at Liz.  “Emily was in on this!  She knew and she didn’t tell me?  I spent the entire day with her and she didn’t say a word or even drop a hint.  How did you do it?”  Lucky merely smiled.  He was spared from having to answer by a knock on the door.  “Ah, that will be our dinner.”

The maitre ‘d from the PC grill stood with the waiter.  “Mr. Spencer, your dinner is served.  We will start with a medley of wild mushrooms in a garlic cream sauce. Then we have prepared a Ceaser salad for two followed by the soup of the day, crab bisque.  Next we will have broiled chicken breasts stuffed with brie and artichoke hearts with a delicate rosemary-truffle sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes and mixed grilled vegetables.  For dessert we will have the house specialty, white chocolate mouse cheesecake in a chocolate cookie crust served on a raspberry sauce.”  By the time the maitre ‘d had finished Liz felt her stomach growling.

When they were alone again Lucky held out a chair for Liz.  She sat down and looked at the spread in front of her.  The only time she had been in the PC Grille was with Lucky the day they were trying to find Elanore Murty.  She remembered how she wanted to have more than just a salad and how she and Lucky counted their pennies.  She also remembered how Nikolas’ gesture of paying for the meal had upset Lucky.

Lucky sat down in the chair across from Liz and couldn’t help but think about how beautiful she looked.  His heart swelled every time he looked at her.  “I remember last time we ate at the Grille you mentioned how you would love to try some of the fancy dishes, well I thought this was a good assortment.  I hope you’re hungry!”  Lucky passed her a basket of assorted warm rolls and they began to eat.

Chapter 43

The meal passed too quickly for Liz.  They spent the time talking, never running out of things to say.  As if by mutual agreement, neither mentioned the case against Mr. Murty, Audrey’s worsening condition, the steps that Lucky had taken with Luke to rebuild their relationship or anything else that was stressful in their lives.  They used this time to concentrate on themselves.  After dinner Lucky revealed the hot tub and the bathing suits he had had put in the suite.  As he cleared the table and moved it into the hall he said, “Why don’t you get your suit on and we will take advantage of that hot tub.”

Liz wondered how she was fortunate enough to have someone like Lucky to love and who loved her just as much.  “Alright, I’ll wait until you call me then I will know you are ready too.”  Liz went into the bedroom shutting the adjoining bathroom and living area doors.  She sat on the bed for a moment wondering how it would feel to be with Lucky all night in the luxury of the PC hotel.  It was then that the realization hit her, Lucky had never seen her in anything less than pajamas.  The swimsuit in front of her was much more revealing than even her slinkiest nightie.  She smiled as the realization hit her.  She was more concerned about Lucky being disappointed in what he saw than she was about being alone with him wearing next to nothing in a hot tub.  She was still smiling when she began to change, carefully removing the locket that Lucky had given her earlier.

Lucky was already in his swim trunks, but he wanted everything to be perfect before he asked Liz to join him.  He began to place candles strategically around the room, the glow created by the candle light was exactly what he wanted.  Next he lit the incense he bought earlier in the day.  When he was satisfied he turned and knocked lightly on the bedroom door.

Liz heard the knock and jumped slightly.  She sighed nervously and opened the door.  She took in Lucky’s appearance.  Though she had seen him shirtless before, this time her heart skipped several beats.  He was gorgeous and the way the light flickered in the background made every feature stand out.  It was all she could do not to run her fingers across his chest.  She was looking at him waiting for his gaze to meet hers.

Lucky felt as though the breath had been knocked out of him.  He had never seen a more beautiful sight in his life.  He met her questioning eyes.  “You are beautiful” he said simply as he took her hand and led her to the Jacuzzi.  He watched as she entered the water and followed her in.  “This has been the best night of my life.  You are so wonderful, I don’t deserve you.”  Lucky pulled her into his arms “It is me who doesn’t deserve you.  You make me want to be the best person I can.”  With that he brought his lips down on hers.

The kiss was almost more than Liz could handle.  She returned it in kind and brought her hands up to caress his chest.  Lucky groaned and moved his hands up her torso.  He reached the top to her bikini and slowly began to remove it.  Liz tensed for a moment but realized that she didn’t want Lucky to stop.

Lucky felt Liz’s body language change momentarily and broke the kiss.  “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have tried to push you.”  Liz smiled into his eyes “What if I said I didn’t want you to stop?”  Lucky couldn’t believe what he was hearing.  “Are you sure?”  Liz smiled and kissed him in response.  Lucky merely groaned and began to remove her top again.  She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, her skin was so milky white and soft.  He couldn’t seem to get enough of her and he began to rain kisses down her body.

They stayed in the hot tub for quite some time familiarizing themselves with each other’s bodies.  Liz was learning what made Lucky groan the way he did when he really liked something and Lucky was learning how to make Liz gasp.  Finally they broke apart, Lucky wasn’t sure he could stand anymore.  “Maybe we should move this into the bedroom.”  Liz nodded not trusting her voice.

Lucky moved towards her and lifted her out of the hot tub.  He carried her into the bedroom and laid her gently on the mattress.  He looked into her beautiful eyes “I love you Elizabeth Webber.  I want you to know that I didn’t come here tonight expecting anything, I just wanted to see you happy.”

Liz sighed as a single tear worked its way down her cheek.  “I know you don’t expect anything.  I want this too.  I’m ready and I want to be with you, only with you Lucky Spencer.”  Lucky wiped her tear away and slowly brought his lips down to meet hers and began to make love to her.  It wasn’t long before reality faded away and the two were lost in each other.

Chapter 44

In another much smaller room in a much fancy hotel a man sat in deep concentration.  The only light was provided by a small lamp on a table near the bed providing an eerie glow in the room.  On the table were tons of pictures of Liz and on the floor were pieces of pictures of Lucky, mutilated almost beyond recognition.  Also in the room was a video camera hooked up to the television, a laptop computer, a copy of Ted Kizinski’s memoirs, and miscellaneous explosive devices, wires, timers and the like.

The man knew from his connections that Lucky had taken Liz to the PC hotel for the night.  He had been there when they had arrived and watched as Spencer led his angel into one of the poshest suites the hotel had to offer.  It was almost more than he could take.  He had taken the evening for himself, and as therapy he was planning the demise of Lucky Spencer.

Now that Murty was out of jail awaiting trial he could make his move.  All that was required was some patience, something he was getting very good at.  He had a new ritual, in his free time he tailed Murty or came here.  He considered this place his haven.  It was remote enough to offer him the utmost privacy, yet still close enough for him to be home within fifteen minutes.  What more could he ask?

His focus now was on the screen to the laptop.  On the screen were the schematics for his plan.  He actually could play back the death of Lucky Spencer over and over.  This was his tenth or twelfth time through he just couldn’t seem to get enough of watching Lucky being blown to kingdom come.  He began to laugh sadistically and looked over at Liz’s many pictures “soon my darling we will be together.  I am going to make you so much happier than he ever could.  When Lucky is out of the picture we will be together.”  He stood up and made his way to the bed.  He took the blanket and wrapped it around himself.  In his mind it still smelled of her.  He began to fantasize about the future with his angel, about touching her again.

He stood and stared at himself in the mirror, only in his mind the reflection staring back at him was Liz.  “You came, I knew you would.”  He reached out and stroked the mirror  “I’ve missed you so much.  What?  Oh, I know it’s hard being apart, but soon we will be together.”  He leaned in and touched his lips to the glass.  Instead of cold unforgiving glass he felt the warm softness of his angel’s lips.  She wanted him again and he wasn’t going to let her down.  Within moments he was lost in the oblivion of his fantasy.  Later, he lay on the bed wrapped in nothing but the blanket that had once been wrapped around his angel.  He had a satisfied smile on his face.

Chapter 45

Dara sat in Mac’s office waiting for him to return.  After mulling her meeting with Jason over in her mind a thousand times she had decided to tell him about it.  She knew that the hour was late, but due to some unforseen events they were both burning the midnight oil.  What better time to get this off her chest?  Taggart was no where to be seen and neither was Justus, no distractions and no reasons to keep quiet.

Dara jumped as she heard the door slam.  “Sorry, I didn’t realize you were in here.  I thought you were going to call it a night Dara?  Is there something wrong?”  Mac noticed an unsure look cross Dara’s face.  “I wouldn’t say something is wrong really, I just need some advice.”  Mac sighed, he had been looking forward to getting home to Felicia, he had barely seen her all week and he missed her and the girls.  He sat down heavily “just let me put another pot of coffee on and give Felicia a quick ring.
Dara watched in silence as Mac worked.  He put the coffee on and picked up the phone,  “Hey love, I won’t be home as soon as I thought…No just some last minute details…What?  No, go ahead and go to bed, I’ll try not to wake you when I come in…I know, I miss you too…Alright, I’ll see you when I get there…I love you too…Yeah give them both a kiss for me.”  Mac hung up the phone and faced Dara, “Ok, I’m all ears.”

Dara sighed “I met with Elizabeth Webber this morning.  To make a long story short, she is very sweet young lady certainly undeserving of the tragedy that has been surrounding her life lately.  We had a long conversation and she left my office.  About 10 minutes later the receptionist rang me to say there was an altercation in the lobby.  It seems that Ms. Webber was unfortunate enough to run into Ted Murty on her way out of the building.  She didn’t crumble, more accurately she gave him a real piece of her mind.  Made me proud.”  Dara paused to take a sip of the coffee Mac had placed in front of her.

Dara swallowed hard and continued “it seems that I have been letting her case weigh on my mind ever since that incident.  I want whoever did this to be punished, well anyway, during the conversation Liz mentioned that she was being guarded by Jason Morgan’s men.”  Dara paused sensing that she was now entering murky waters, judging by the look on Mac’s face she wasn’t far off the mark.  “Do you want me to stop now?”

Mac cleared his throat in order to avoid answering immediately.  He didn’t want his personal feelings for Jason and his relationship with his niece to cloud his judgement.  “No, continue.”  He sat back in his chair and tried to remain objective.  He listened as Dara recounted the conversation that she had with Morgan.  It was indeed interesting that the guards never saw Murty anywhere near Liz, if she was indeed being stalked by him wouldn’t at least one of the guards have seen him near her?  Even if he wasn’t near Liz per say, wouldn’t he have been spotted in the general vicinity?  He would definitely have to keep an open mind in regards to Morgan, if Dara was concerned, he should be too.  “I will send Garcia to speak to Morgan about this one, Taggart is too antagonistic.”

Dara sighed, “thanks, Mac.  I hope this doesn’t throw a wrench into what seems to be an open and shut case.”  Knowing that Mac was anxious to get home to his family she rose and headed for the door.  Just as she was leaving Mac said “Dara, try not to lose sleep over this.”  Dara merely chuckled, easier said than done she thought.

Chapter 46

Liz slowly awoke from the best dream she ever had.  She dreamt that she had made love to Lucky.  It was so wonderful, a beautiful experience she had thought was never meant for her.  When she opened her eyes all the way she realized it hadn’t been a dream.  Lucky was still sleeping with his head on her bare chest his heart beat a rhythmic vibration that almost lulled her back to sleep.  Instead of closing her eyes though, she merely watched him.  This man she had chosen to love was far more than she deserved.  He had seen her through the hardest times in her life, and now he had shared with her one of the most beautiful things a couple in love could experience.

Lucky began to stir, when he opened his eyes he smiled, so it hadn’t been a dream after all, he thought.  The towels from their dip in the hot tub were still at the bottom of the bed, and if he wasn’t mistaken he also saw his swim trunks and the bottom of Liz’s bathing suit.  His grin spread as the memory of how exactly he had rid her of that particular piece of clothing came back to him.  He lifted his head only to find her smiling down at him.  “Good morning sleepy head.”  Lucky propped his head on his elbow so he could appreciate how beautiful and rested she looked. “You look good enough to eat” he smiled wickedly as he brought his lips crashing down on hers.  Liz moaned and pulled him on top of her in a clear invitation to finish what he started.  Lucky, not one to miss an opportunity began to make love to her once again.

<Later>
“I tell you Em, it was by far the best night of my life.  First Lucky escorted me out to this beautiful car then he gave me this locket” Liz paused to show Emily the locket “then we spent the most marvelous evening in the Port Charles Hotel.”  Liz left out the details of how they spent the night, knowing that Emily wouldn’t ask.

Emily had been waiting at Kelly’s when they got back.  Lucky went to return the car to Jason   leaving the two of them to talk.  “I still can’t believe I was able to keep the secret.  I thought for sure you would know something was up when it was such short notice to invite you shopping, Lucky assured me he would make it look good, he didn’t lie.”  Emily was still admiring the locket.  “Ned told me which room he chose for you and about the menu Lucky planned, it gave me warm fuzzies!”  Emily was so clearly happy for her friend and Liz could feel her support.  She reached out and squeezed her hand “thanks for everything, you are the best friend a girl could have.”  A shadow crossed Liz’s face briefly.

Emily noticed and squeezed her hand “you miss her don’t you?”  Liz felt a tear escape.  “Yeah, actually I miss both of them more than I ever thought possible.  With Sarah gone and Gram not improving I feel very alone.”  Emily knew how her friend was feeling, despite all the efforts Monica, Alan and Lucky made after her mom died, nothing could allay that sense of loneliness that always seemed to be with her.  “Oh Liz, I know what you mean.  I felt the same when my mom died.  I can’t say it is the same for everyone, but it does get easier as time passes.”

Liz looked at her friend and smiled.  “Thanks, Em.  I think it will be better when the trial is over and Murty is finally locked up for good.”  Just as Liz was finishing the bell on the door rang.  Expecting to see Lucky she looked up.  Her smile faded slightly when she realized it wasn’t him, but it remained in place.  “Hi, haven’t seen you in a while, how have you been?”  Emily turned around a smiled at the new comer.  “Hey!  What brings you here?”

He sat down to enjoy a conversation with Emily and his angel.

Chapter 47

Nikolas walked into Kelly’s to find Liz waiting tables.  He didn’t see Lucky anywhere, good he thought.  He approached Liz and waited at a distance for her to spot him.  He knew the instant she did at the coolness that came into her eyes.  She was walking towards him.  “Hello Nikolas.  Sit anywhere you like, I’ll bring you a menu in a minute.”  She started to walk away and he reached out and put his hand on her shoulder.  He felt her tense momentarily and could almost see her forcing herself to relax.  Nik immediately withdrew his hand “Liz… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Liz softened at his concern, she couldn’t believe that this was the same person that Lucky despised.  “It’s not your fault.  Was there something you needed?” Nikolas couldn’t help but wonder what could make such a kind and beautiful person afraid of her own shadow.  Someday maybe he would find out.

“Actually I wanted to talk to you.  I was hoping you could spare a few minutes.”  Liz hesitated, she felt like she was betraying Lucky.  She looked at her watch “Only a few minutes, Lucky will be back soon and I don’t think it would be wise for him to find you here.”  A sad look briefly crossed Nik’s face.  “Alright, shall we have a seat?”  He walked to the nearest empty table and held the chair out for Liz.

Once they were both seated Nikolas began.  “I have been wanting to talk to you since the service for Sarah.  I wanted to give you my condolences.  I realize that you may think I was unfair to her, but I really did care about her and truly only had her best interests in mind.”  He paused, but when Liz remained silent he continued.  “I was listening to your eulogy and it really hit home with me.  As you probably know I am the reason that Lucky knows what he does about his mother and father.  I thought that my telling him was justified, in fact I convinced myself that it was, but as time passes and I see how it has torn apart my brother I realize it was not.  Thanks to you I have realized a lot of things, first of all, I don’t want to be a part of the undying Spencer/Cassadine feud, second of all, I want to know my brother.  Do you think you could help me?”

Liz was shocked, she had never expected that this was what Nik wanted to talk to her about.  She was caught between her heart and what she thought Lucky would say.  In her heart she wanted Lucky to know what it meant to have a brother close to his age.  He wanted Lucky to experience the same relationship she had with Sarah in those last few hours.  She had to make sure that it was something that she thought Lucky would want and not just something she wanted for him.  “I need to think about it, I wish I could answer you right away, but I can’t hurt Lucky.”  She heard the door open again and prayed it wasn’t Lucky she looked up and was relieved to see it was only Em.  “If you have a number where I can reach you I’ll call you with my decision.”

Emily approached surprised to see Nikolas.  The usual butterflies were in her stomach as she approached.  “Hi Liz, Nik” she said.  Nikolas was just finishing handing Liz a piece of paper and he turned to face her.  “Hey Emily, it’s good to see you.  I’m sorry I can’t stay longer, but I have a prior commitment.”  He turned to Liz on his way out, “please get back to me with your answer.”  He smiled at Emily and then was gone.

“Wow, everytime I see him I get this feeling in my stomach.  If only it was mutual. Any way what was that all about?  It looked pretty intense.”  Liz explained the conversation to Emily.  “What do you think I should do?”  Emily had been surprised, she always thought more of Nikolas than Lucky did, but she also understood his animosity.  “That’s a tough one, I think you know Lucky better at this point, you really need to make this decision on your own.”

Liz knew her friend was right, she dreaded having to make this decision, so much was at stake.
