Bloodlust - 9

Spike only glanced up as Dru entered the room. “Where have you been?” he asked coldly. “I had to drag them all here on my own.”

Dru studied the row of bodies Spike had accumulated. Willow, Xander, and Buffy looked surprisingly peaceful. “Hmm,” she said quietly. “So many of them.”

“Only the librarian is left,” Spike said. “Angelus will undoubtedly have a plan for him.”

“If he isn’t too busy with his tramp,” Dru said testily. She seated herself beside Spike and dipped her hand into the pocket of the leather jacket she had lifted off Buffy earlier that night. “You should see what I picked up Spikey,” she said.

Spike cocked an eyebrow, then smiled at the other vampire. “Is it a gift?” he questioned.

“Oh yes,” Dru purred. “It’s a very special gift—for Angelus. I wanted to show our—appreciation.”

Spike’s expression soured, and he looked angrily away. “You can take it back, then. He has no need for gifts. He has his slutty companion to occupy him now.”

“Not for long.”

Spike turned again to Dru, immediately suspicious. “What do you mean, not for long? Dru, what have you got in mind?”

“That’s for me to know, and you to wonder about.”

“Drusilla!”

“Spike,” Dru murmured. “I have a special gift for Daddy. If you’re very good, I might let you have some too.”

“Have some what?” Spike asked. His eyes widened as Dru removed the small flask from her pocket.

“Magic,” she whispered.

Carly smiled at Lucky as the two entered Luke’s. “Looks like we got here just in time,” she remarked. “Half an hour till sunrise.”

Lucky grunted his agreement and sat heavily in a chair at a nearby table. “Long night,” he said, running his tongue across his sharp teeth.
“It wasn’t so bad,” Carly disagreed. “We got the slayer, and all her little slayerettes. Now all we have to do is wait for Angel and Sid and Nancy to finish the job.”

“Sid and Nancy?” Lucky asked curiously, raising an eyebrow. “Aren’t their names Spike and Dru?”

Carly stared at Lucky for a moment, then burst into laughter. Lucky watched in amusement, then whipped his head around at a sound behind him. He frowned as he heard the sound, not quite as faint, again. It sounded like a groan. His eyes widened in shock as they fell on the woman’s form near his feet. “Lucy!” he exclaimed, and stared in open shock at Carly.

The other vampire simply shrugged, then both fell to their knees to inspect the unconscious woman. “Lucy?” Lucky asked, shaking her gently. Lucy groaned again, and then her eyed fluttered open.

“Lucky!” she cried when she was able. “Oh! I had the most terrible nightmare!”

Lucky looked to Carly, who in turn stared at him. “What was it?” Carly asked as Lucy sat up.

Lucy regarded Carly hatefully for a moment, then deliberately turned her back on her. “Lucky,” she said, emphasizing his name. “I had this awful dream! I dreamt that this blond haired man and his girlfriend were here, at the club, I mean, and they started—now I know this sounds crazy, Lucky, but it seemed so real to me—they started—if you’d believe this—sucking people’s blood! Right here in the middle of the club! The whole room was covered in blood!”

Lucky grinned and glanced around the room. Angel had only made a half-hearted attempt to clean the place up, and apparently Luke hadn’t bothered with it either. Blood still spattered the table tops and walls. “Sound horrible,” Lucky said with a tight grin.

Lucy smiled gratefully as Lucky helped her to stand, then smoothed the front of her dress. She looked up slowly, her eyes on Lucky, who was still grinning stupidly. “Your teeth—“ she said in horror.

“What about them?” Lucky asked, then grabbed the startled woman around the waist.

“Lucky!” Lucy shrieked. “What are you doing? Stop it!” She batted him with her hands, but it was no use. Lucky’s grip tightened.

Carly continued to stare, beyond words. “Lucky—“ she began.

“The door!” Lucky shouted. “Lock the door!” Carly didn’t move for a long moment, then realization dawned on her, and she raced to the front door, then hastily locked it. Lucky did not loosen his grip on Lucy, but dragged the woman, screaming hysterically, toward the back of the club. “I’m going to take care of her,” Lucky said to the stunned Carly. “You keep a look out for Angel.”

“You think he’ll be out here this late?” Carly asked doubtfully. “The sun’s about to come up—“

“Just do it!” Lucky shouted, and disappeared into the back with the protesting Lucy.

Carly stood alone after his departure, wondering briefly when Lucky had been appointed head vampire.

“Do you need any help?” Angel asked, leaning in to view Luke’s handiwork.

“Nope,” Luke responded. “I think I’m just about finished.”

Brenda smiled wearily and leaned her head on Angel’s shoulder. “So can we get to sleep now, Angelus?” she asked, unconsciously using his full name. “I’m really tired.” She ran a hand down his chest. “Really, really, tired.”

Angel nodded, then squinted at the windows. “Take care of those,” he ordered Luke.

“Alright, alright,” Luke said, and crossed the room to shut the drapes. “Are they going to be enough?”

Angel nodded. “We’ll go down to the basement in an hour or so. The sun won’t be fully up until then anyway.” He stepped lightly away from Brenda, who glowered at Luke for the interruption. “Nice work,” he said, inspecting Luke’s project on the floor. “Do you think it’ll work?”

“I’d bet my life on it,” Luke assured him. “This thing will be playing music for all eternity, my man.”

Brenda giggled. The other vampires looked to her questioningly. “I never thought I’d see two bad old vampires worrying over a broken jukebox,” she said, then laughed again.

“A fixed jukebox,” Angel amended, and stole a glance at Luke. Luke just grinned and clambered to his feet again. “We have to drag this thing downstairs,” Angel said. “Then we can put the finishing touches on the plan for tonight.” He glanced at the sullen Brenda. “Then we can get to bed.”
