Bobbie fought the rising panic as
she ran towards Lucky's room. She could
hear his heart monitor racing,
the small beeps roaring in her
head. She noticed another nurse
racing towards his room from the
opposite direction. Bobbie's eyes
glazed over with fierce anger.
"Why wasn't anyone watching his
room?! He's under suicide watch!
Someone should have been watching!!!"
Bobbie froze in the doorway. Lucky
was struggling to sit up, his eye's
wide with fear. His breathing was
quick and erratic.
"DAMMIT! SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!"
Bobbie looked over to Emily, confused.
Emily turned away, her hand
clamped tightly over her mouth.
Bobbie stepped tentatively into the
room.
"Lucky?"
His head turned to the source of
the voice. His eyes frantically
searched for her, but saw nothing.
"Aunt Bobbie?"
Bobbie released a short breath,
slightly relieved......... he knew who
she was....
"Lucky, it's okay..... calm down........
just take a deep
breath....... alright?"
She watched his eyes race, never
focusing on anything, and soon found
herself trying to follow her own
instructions. She swallowed the lump in
her throat and stepped next to
the bed noting Lucky's eyes response
to her movement.......... they
registered nothing.
"Aunt Bobbie..... I can't......... I can't........."
She reached down and grabbed his
hand. He jumped at her touch, and she
realized he didn't even see her
standing directly in front of him. Her
voice lowered and she spoke in
soothing manner.
"Shhh....... it's okay......... it's going to be okay........."
She turned back to the nurse who still stood in the door.
"I want you to go get the head of
ophthalmology and get him down here
now........ and find Dr. Jones,
tell him what's going on............"

Sonny stopped in his tracks. Jason
stared at him expectantly for several
moments.
"What?"
Sonny stood still, his brow furrowed in concentration.
"Did you hear that?"
Jason opened his mouth to answer,
but was cut off by the ding signaling
the closing of the elevator doors.
His arm shot out, pushing the doors
back.
"Are we getting out or what........"
Sonny stepped out, his ears carefully trained on the air around him.
"I could have sworn I heard........"
The shouting came again, louder.
"GOD DAMMIT! YOU HAVE TO LET ME
GO TO MY SON!!!! I HAVE TO MAKE SURE
HE'S OKAY!!"
Sonny shot a shocked look to Jason
and started running towards the
voice.
"LUKE?!"
He froze when he saw Luke being
dragged down the hallway by none-other
than his two favorite detectives.
"What the hell happened to you?!"
Luke ignored the comment. He wasn't
even going to take the time to be
relieved by Sonny's presence......
He needed to find out what happened
to Lucky.
"Sonny! You gotta go check on Lucky! You gotta make sure he's okay!"
Confusion flooded Sonny's countenance.
Amy was with him, he should
know by now that Lucky had pulled
through........... now that he looked
at Amy she also wore the same expression
of fear as Luke......
"I just checked on Lucky a little while ago........ he was okay...."
"WELL, A WHILE AGO IS TOO LONG DAMMIT!"
"Luke, I'm going to put us in this room......."
Amy looked pointedly at Sonny as she spoke.
"room 330.............."
Garcia shot a suspicious glance
at Amy, who feigned a innocent smile. He
chose to ignore it, and began pushing
Luke through the doorway. Luke
struggled to look back down the
hallway.
"SONNY!"
"I'm on it man!"
Sonny and Jason turned on their heels and bolted for Lucky's room.
************************************************************************
"Nikolas, don='t be ridiculous!..."
"Uncle, the man *did* save my life......"
"From a fire he undoubtedly started!"
"There's no proof of that........"
"Nikolas! You're defending Luke
Spencer?! A man so despicable, so
impudent, so unctuous......"
"Uncle...... people change....."
Stefan sat shocked and mortified
at the words escaping his nephew's
mouth.
"Have I not warned you of this man's
duplicity? Of his total lack of
regard for anyone but himself?"
"That's not how I saw it when he pulled me from the fire........"
"So now, because of Spencer's quixotic
rescue mission you're going
to place your trust in him?!"
Nikolas sighed heavily. He shut
his eyes and fell back against his
pillows.
"If you'll excuse me, this day has
really quite enervated me and I
wish to get some sleep now."
Stefan sat back stunned. How could
this be happening? Luke
Spencer....... the innocent party?
The thought was almost
humorous....... if it wasn't so
tragic.....
The idea was he would be the innocent
one......... not Spencer..... And
now Nikolas..... dear god, his
Nikolas now thought the maniacal man was
some sort of reformed saint! Stefan
shook his head. No....... it is just
the trauma of the situation.........
Nikolas would come to his
senses..... He was always such
an astute child.
Stefan ran his hand down his face,
stopping to clamp it over his mouth.
Eyes shut, he sat looking quite
nauseous...... in fact he was. A
sickening swirling feeling around
the painful knot in his stomach.....
yes, that was a good description.
Luke would be dead by now..... he
would be frozen on a slab in the
morgue with his son laying next
to him. Well, if not, his son soon to
follow him........ Helena would
see to it...... he had faith in her
vengeance........... in fact if
she were not yet informed of the recent
"revelation", she may still be
on her way to kill Lucky Spencer....... a
child, defense-less, and weak in
a hospital bed.......
She would do it.
He raised his eyebrows bemused. Another Spencer out of the way......
He hoped she'd still do it.
Luke would go after her if she murdered
his son........ he would kill
her..........Helena out of the
way........
He really hoped she'd still do it.
Maybe the guards would kill Luke
if he went after her..... he wouldn't
be thinking rationally (not that
he ever did), but he would not
plan.......... no, he would go
with his visceral instinct.......... and
if he died avenging his son's death
it wouldn't matter to him.......
He prayed she'd still do it.
Stefan jolted up. He had to make
sure Helena didn't find out the truth
about Lucky's paternity before
she had him executed.
"Alexis......."
He stopped mid-sentence realizing
she wasn't there..... in fact, he
had no idea where she was. He made
sure Nikolas was asleep and stepped
out into the hallway to place a
phone call.
************************************************************************
Alexis discreetly peeked through
the large observation window into Lucky
Spencer's room. A young girl stood
in the corner crying hysterically.
In the center of the room, stood
a woman Alexis immediately recognized
as Bobbie Spencer. She too, looked
anxious and scared. Something must
have happened....... Alexis was
surprised to feel her heart rated
increase and her breath leave her
mouth in a whoosh. Was she scared? Her
gaze drifted over to Lucky's bed.
He sat bolt upright, wires and tubes
trailing behind him. His eyes were
wide open and his voice was dry, but
he still managed to croak out a
few words vociferously.
"DAMMIT! SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON!!!"
Despite Bobbie's attempts to mollify
him, Lucky seemed to grow only
more hostile and more fearful.
Something was really wrong.
Alexis turned around hearing frantic
footsteps approaching. Though she
had never had the honor of meeting
him, she had seen enough pictures in
the newspaper to know that the
man running down the hallway was none
other then Sonny Corrinthos, infamous
crime lord of Port Charles. She
quickly deduced that the man next
to him must be his right-hand man,
Jason Morgan, formerly Quartermaine............The
two were running down
the corridor each reading room
numbers on their respective walls.......
They hadn't seen her........
Alexis slid around the corner and
leaned against the wall. She opened
her eyes, nothing the questioning
looks she was receiving from some of
the nurses. Reaching into her bag,
she removed her cellphone and
pretended to dial numbers before
holding it to her ear. That's
right, inconspicuous...........
nothing to see here...........
************************************************************************
"Jason!"
Emily flung herself into his arms
as he entered the room, nearly
knocking him over.
"Shhh Em........."
Sonny followed close behind, immediately rushing up to Bobbie.
"What happened?!"
Bobbie turned to him dazed.
"He's blind.........."
"What?!"
Lucky's shoulders slumped and he
fell back against the pillows with a
thud.
"Lucky!"
Bobbie rushed over to his side,
grabbing his hand. She could feel it
trembling under her firm grip.
"N...n... no...... th...... there
has to be a........ a
.........mistake....... this is......
this can't be happening......."
Emily stepped forward, untangling herself from Jason's arms.
"Why....... Why is this happening? Why can't he see?"
Bobbie glanced sadly down at her nephew.
"I don't know....... I really don't
have any training in this
field...... I don't know anything
about this case really.... like....
the location of the entry wound.
She gulped and continued quickly.
"So I guess it could be any variety
of things........ he may have
severed his optic nerves or lodged
bone fragments in his eyes....... the
bullet may have entered the occipital
lobe of his brain....... or it
could just be traumatic."
Sonny eyed Lucky with concern.
"Lucky? You okay?"
Lucky swallowed convulsively against the bile rising in his throat.
"Bullet?........ What bullet?"
